After weeks of the kids doing school at home all together, Sharra and I decided that it would be best for everyone if we could find a way to give the kids some of their own space from each other. What made the most sense was to use the place in Alma that we've been fixing up for 10 years. With an adjustment to my cell phone plan I could also work from there since physical distance isn't really a factor in my work right now. So for the first couple of weeks I'll have different kids up here doing their schoolwork as I work (and also spend my spare time finishing up the last room in the place). Then Sharra and I will switch places.
The background for this service is the windows for the last room I need to finish. It was a pretty run down 'porch' room that was mostly used for storage. After tearing down the exterior walls and putting in new windows it's turning out to be one of the nicest rooms in the place, and it certainly has the best view of the Mississippi. I figured that the view was a better backdrop than some other interior room.
The other thing you might notice is that I'm not clean shaven. After forgetting my razor, I then decided that this is probably the best time to not shave. I hardly see anyone outside of my family. Many guys try a no-shave November. For now I'm doing a no-shave COVID-19 quarantine. This also has the benefit of a slight re-creation of the story in the gospel lesson for this Sunday. The disciples had been locked up in their room for over a week and I doubt any of them had shaved. None of them had probably washed up either, but I'm not ready to go that far.
